At the quay in Vienna embarkation takes place from 16.00 hrs, ready to set sail at 18.30 hrs. There is now an opportunity to explore your „floating hotel“, before joining the Cruise Director and team for a welcome cocktail. This is followed by the Welcome Dinner.
Day 2: Sunday Budapest
Around midday we arrive at the charming small town of Les Andelys. Our excursion takes you to the impressive ruined castle of Gaillard. The castle was built in the 12th Century by Richard the Lionheart on an outcrop above the Seine and thus offers excellent views across the Seine Valley and the town of Les Andelys. During the afternoon we set sail for Caudebec-en-Caux.
Day 3:Monday Budapest/Esztergom
After a hearty breakfast we offer an excursion to a „Csarda“, a typical Hungarian inn. On the neighbouring farm we enjoy a display of local horsemanship. Alternatively you may wish to take part in a visit to St. Stephen’s Cathedral and Margaret’s Island (both excursions bookable only on board). During the evening we set sail for Bratislava.
Day 4: Tuesday Bratislava
During the morning we anchor in Bratislava, where we have a coach tour followed by a guided walk, which takes in the huge castle, as well as St. Martin’s Cathedral, where once the Hungarian kings were crowned, and the lovely Old Town. After lunch you have the opportunity to join an excursion into the Carpathian foothills around Bratislava, to visit the picturesque wine villages (bookable only on board).
Day 5:Wednesday Wachau Valley
Why not join us today on our "World Heritage Wachau" tour, an opportunity you should not miss? See at first hand the unique beauty of this legendary region, which has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The tour begins in Dürnstein and takes us to the hugely impressive Baroque abbey in Melk. After rejoining the ship we set sail for Linz.
Day 6: Thursday Linz
We arrive during the morning in Linz, a European City of Culture for 2009. Here you have the opportunity to join a full-day excursion to Salzburg, travelling through the Salzkammergut with its lakes (bookable also in advance). Alternatively you may prefer to take part in a guided walk through Linz (bookable only on board). Should you opt for the excursion to Salzburg you will be able to explore the lights of Linz at your own pace.
Day 7:Friday Vienna
Vienna is a city of music and of joie de vivre, in which the Sachertorte (chocolate cake) and the traditional wine bars (Heuriger) are as famous as St. Stephen’s Cathedral and the Hofburg palace. Our coach tour will take you to the most important sights of the city. Of course there is an opportunity to explore this beautiful city at your leisure. After lunch we offer a choice of excursions (both bookable only on board) either to the abbey at Klosterneuburg or Schönbrunn Palace. After dinner you can either join a coach tour through the attractive wine-growing area around the capital to the Vienna Woods, where we visit a traditional wine bar or you can visit a classical concert.
Day 8: Saturday Disembark in Vienna
After breakfast it is time to say Farewell. You will disembark from your ship with many happy memories as your individual onward journey commences.
