Detailed Itinerary:
Day 1 - Budapest
Individual arrival in Budapest. Embarkation on the River Cloud II at 16.00 hours.
Day 2 - Mohács
Excursion to Pécs*. This city, which is almost 2000 years old, is one of the most beautiful in Hungary. Its atmosphere is light-hearted and lively – with almost a Mediterranean feel. Its sights include some remains from the 4th century AD, which are protected by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.
Day 3 - Novi Sad/Belgrade
Novi Sad: Tour of the old town with a visit to the Petrovaradin Fortress*. Overland journey to Belgrade. Novi Sad’s beautiful old town was built in the 18th and 19th centuries, and its fortress was the largest in Europe in the 17th century.
Belgrade: City tour*. The Serbian capital takes you on a journey through time: There is a Roman fountain in the medieval fortress, and some of the city’s unusual residences were built in the early Balkan style. The city also has one of the biggest Orthodox churches in the world.
Day 4 - Belgrade
The transverse valley of the Danube, over 100 kilometres (60 miles) long, is a wonderful landscape offering constantly changing views. The Kazan Gorge leads to the Iron Gate, also known as Djerdap, which is at the narrowest point of the gorge.
Day 5 - Vidin
Tour of Vidin and Belogradchik*. Baba Vida is the most impressive fortress in Bulgaria. It was built between the 3rd and 19th centuries. Another fortress is situated in the wildly romantic craggy scenery of Belogradchik.
Day 6 - Russe
Excursion to Veliko Tarnovo and Arbanassi with lunch*. For some two hundred years, Veliko Tarnovo was the capital of the Bulgarian tsarist empire. Built on several hills, the location of this charming town is very picturesque. The idyllic village of Arbanassi is hidden away about four kilometres (2.5 miles) to the north-east.
Day 7 - Russe
During a day spent on the river, the views are ever-changing. Lectures on board will provide you with interesting and entertaining information.
Day 8 - Coral/Sulina
Coral: A boat tour* will give you the opportunity to discover the Danube delta’s fascinating flora and fauna. Lovers of untouched landscapes will be able to enjoy many new sights in the Danube delta.
Sulina: The River Cloud ii reaches the Black Sea today at kilometre zero. There will be the possibility to take a short trip ashore.
Day 9 - Harsova (Bucharest)
09.00 hours disembarkation. Individual departure.
