Excursion to Het Loo Palace* Now more than 300 years old, Het Loo was once a royal palace.The ornate rooms provide an insight into the way the House of Orange lived. In the afternoon, learn more about the monarchy in the Netherlands at our lecture. The culinary start to the journey is the Captain's Dinner, which will mark Queen's Day on April 30.
Day 3: Bad Breisig, Germany - Koblenz, Germany
Visit to Princess Heide von Hohenzollern's home, Namedy Castle*
This is a moated castle dating from the 14th century, which was converted into a castle complex in 1890. It has been the family home of the Hohenzollern dynasty since 1907. Princess Heide von Hohenzollern will welcome you in person. Following a tour of the castle, she will invite you to join her for lunch.
Re-embarkation in Koblenz . In the late afternoon, pass along the romantic Rhine, including the Lorelei.
Day 4: At Sea
"Noblesse oblige". During an informal morning discussion, Countess Leontine von Schmettow answers your questions about the German nobility. In the evening, our chef invites you to a "Nobility dinner"created especially for this trip.
Day 5: Wurzburg, Germany
City tour including a visit to the Residenz Palace *
The Residenz Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is one of the highlights of the European Baroque period. It also illustrates the lifestyle of one of the most resplendent princely palaces in Europe. In the afternoon, there will be an opportunity to find out more about the House von Sachsen-Coburg und Gotha and its fascinating marriage policy.
Day 6: Bamberg, Germany
Morning tour of Bamberg * In the afternoon, a visit to Callenberg Castle to meet Andreas von Sachsen-Coburg und Gotha*
Listen to the fascinating history of one of the most important European ruling dynasties. Afterwards, there will be a chamber concert and tea.
Day 7: Nuremberg, Germany
City tour*
Nuremberg Castle, which for 500 years was one of the residences of the emperors of the holy Roman Empire, was also one of the most important medieval imperial palaces.
Day 8: Regensburg, Germany
City tour and visit to St. Emmeram Palace with sparkling wine reception*
Follow in the footsteps of the Thurn und Taxis baronial family through Regensburg and to their Palace of St. Emmeram. The former monastery is one of the largest palaces in Europe where people still reside.
Day 9: Regensburg, Germany
9:00am disembarkation after breakfast. Individual departure.
