Detailed Itinerary: Amsterdam to Basel
Day 1 (Saturday): Amsterdam (Embarkation)
Welcome on board the legendary Royal Crown. This incredible, luxury ship offers the highest standard of accommodation, cuisine and on board facilities available on the waterways of Europe. From the moment you step on board, check-in to your cabin and enter a world of superior comfort, elegance and style. From this very moment, the pace of the holiday is set by you and you alone. The Royal Crown departs from Amsterdam in the late afternoon. Tonight we enjoy our first fantastic four-course dinner on board, with mouth-watering dishes to choose from, all prepared using fresh local ingredients, accompanied by wine.
Day 2 (Sunday): Cologne
The first full morning of our cruise is spent on board as we head along the Amsterdam-Rhine canal and along the Rhine. You can spend your time on board in any number of different ways - every moment on board the Royal Crown is to be treasured. You could find yourself on the Lido Deck, enjoying a drink in the Lido Bar or relaxing on the Sun Deck admiring the picturesque landscape that is constantly on show as we float lazily past. You may even spend time honing your golf skills on the putting green or pass the time with some of the deck games. The first class lounge on the upper deck is the ideal place to relax, read, chat and enjoy a game of cards. Daily international newspapers are provided free of charge. The first class lounge is also where you will find live music and entertainment in the evenings. For pure indulgence, the on board Royal Crown Spa offers a range of massages and treatments (payable locally). In the afternoon we arrive in the magnificent city of Cologne where you can explore at leisure, or join an optional guided tour that includes the imposing Gothic cathedral and charming Old Town.
Day 3 (Monday): Koblenz and Boppard
After our lavish breakfast on board, we sail into Koblenz, situated picturesquely at the confluence of the Rhine and Moselle. This morning you can join our optional tour of Koblenz, as we explore the town and its abundance of cultural monuments and historic buildings. We depart Koblenz as lunch is served, sailing further south along the mighty Rhine this afternoon until we reach Boppard, another of the region's great wine producers. The town has a lovely riverside promenade. We remain moored in Boppard overnight, leaving you plenty of time to explore the town or join an optional city walk through the historic streets.
Day 4 (Tuesday): Rüdesheim
We leave Boppard and cruise through the morning, giving you another wonderful opportunity to make the most of the varied options for your time on board the Royal Crown. The Rhine Gorge scenery on this section of our cruise is some of the most stunning that you will find on any of the waterways throughout Europe. Hilltop castles and rolling vineyards line our route and we navigate past the imposing Lorelei Rock, a legendary rocky outcrop that is now a designated UNESCO World Heritage site. During lunchtime we arrive in Rüdesheim, home to the world-renowned Drosselgasse where lively traditional pubs and wine cellars line the street. Rüdesheim is one of the region's top wine towns. You can join an optional excursion to Siegfried's Mechanical Museum or spend your time exploring the Drosselgasse soaking up the wonderful atmosphere.
Day 5 (Wednesday): Speyer
Once more your morning is free to spend enjoying the facilities and relaxing atmosphere on board. This afternoon we reach the imperial town of Speyer, home to a stunning Romanesque cathedral. You have chance to explore at leisure or join an optional excursion exploring the town before we sail towards Strasbourg.
Day 6 (Thursday): Strasbourg
We spend today in the fantastic city of Strasbourg, a city alive with French and German influences that is regarded as the capital of Alsace. A variety of options are available for your day in the city, including an optional guided tour and canal cruise that offers the opportunity to experience the half-timbered houses and quaint streets from a different perspective. We leave Strasbourg later in the afternoon and begin the final leg of our cruise to Basel.
Day 7 (Friday): Basel
Today we visit Basel, the beautiful Swiss city that stands at the point where Switzerland, France and Germany meet. You have a variety of options for your time in Basel, you can explore at leisure, join an optional guided city tour or take a journey to Lucerne and ride the Mount Pilatus Railway.
Day 8 (Saturday) : Basel (Disembarkation)
After a final breakfast on board your memorable “Grand Rhine Journey” comes to an end as you disembark the Royal Crown in Basel and prepare for your onward journey.

The city is rightly referred to as the cultural capital of Switzerland. Not only is this evident as you stroll downtown, but also in the variety of museums containing an inspiring and outstanding array of artefacts.
From the Doll’s House Museum on Barfüsserplatz, to Steinenberg and the Swiss Architecture Museum, or to Riehen and the Fondation Beyeler with its unique collection from the era of classical modernity and spectacular selection of special exhibits.
Day 3 (Monday): Strasbourg

Day 6 (Thursday): Koblenz
Koblenz is one of the most beautiful and oldest cities in Germany with a history dating back to Roman times, 2000 years ago. They mention the place in the ninth century BC as castrum ad confluentes, meaning settlement at the confluence. Here, the Mosel flows into the Rhine, this point, the "Deutsches Eck" is a Koblenz attraction of tourists from around the world. The strategic location of the center of Koblenz and Moselle and Rhine wines it has a glorious past. Old ramparts, castle towers, castles and mansions are the visible examples.

In the early morning, the Royal Crown will dock in Amsterdam. At this point it is time to bid farewell to your fellow passengers as your Royal Crown journey comes to an end. After breakfast disembark the Royal Crown in Amsterdam and prepare for your onward journey. Embark on a canal tour by glass-topped boat to see architecture from the city’s Golden Age. Take free time to visit the Anne Frank House, the Van Gogh Museum, or just explore the city’s charming neighborhoods.
