Detailed Itinerary: Paris to Nuremberg

Day 1: Paris

Arrive at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport where you will be transferred to the hotel.

Day 2: Paris

Featured Excursions: Choice of Paris panoramic city tour -OR- exclusive “Heart of Paris” walking tour

Your panoramic city tour begins with a drive up the grand boulevard Champs-Élysées, passing the Arc de Triomphe. Stop at the Champs de Mars for an opportunity to photograph the Eiffel Tower before continuing to Place Vendôme, Hôtel de Ville, Notre Dame Cathedral, and the Latin Quarter. Then go on to Les Invalides, the Louvre courtyard, and Luxembourg Gardens, where you will see a slice of daily Parisian life. Or choose a walking tour through the “Heart of Paris.” From the magnificent Opera House to the
Comédie Française, you’ll stroll along narrow streets of the oldest residential districts of Paris. (BB)

Day 3: Paris

Spend leisure time enjoying the fascinating city often referred to as the “City of Light.” Visit Saint-Chappelle, which houses the world’s most treasured stained glass windows. Take time to relax with a ride on one of the boats that offer scenic trips down the Seine. (BB)

Day 4: Paris, transfer to Trier/Konz (Embarkation)

Featured Excursion: Trier city tour

Travel by motorcoach from Paris, France, to Trier, Germany, where you will board your luxurious Uniworld ship. Your afternoon tour of Germany’s oldest city, also called the second Rome, showcases the impressive Roman gate Porta Nigra and Emperor Constantine’s Throne Room, both of which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Day 5: Bernkastel, Traben-Trarbach

Featured Excursions: Bernkastel walking tour and Traben-Trarbach wine tasting

Discover the historic vineyards and delightful market squares that attest to Bernkastel’s 500-plus years as a winemaking capital. Then cruise past the breathtaking Moselle region’s vine-filled slopes and picturesque villages to discover the romantic twin town of Traben-Trarbach. Day 6: Koblenz, cruising the romantic Rhine, Rüdesheim

Featured Excursions: Choice of Koblenz walking tour -OR- Marksburg Castle visit

Amble through Koblenz’s picturesque streets while a local expert explains the town’s history. Or tour Marksburg Castle, which is virtually unchanged from Medieval times. Inhabited for over 700 years, it is one of the prime structures of the Rhinegau and is the only hill castle that has never been destroyed. Later in the day, cruise along the Upper Middle Rhine Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Enjoy leisure time in Rüdesheim, a celebrated wine town, during the evening. (BB, L, D)

Day 7: Offenbach (Heidelberg), Aschaffenburg

Featured Excursion: Full-day Heidelberg excursion

Spend a day in the picturesque city of Heidelberg, which was immortalized in Sigmund Romberg's operetta The Student Prince. Stroll through the charming Old Town en route to magnificent Heidelberg Castle. You’ll see world-famous Heidelberg University - one of the leading intellectual centers of Europe and home to philosophical movements across seven centuries. (BB, D)

Day 8: Miltenberg

Featured Excursion: Miltenberg walking tour

Visit historic Miltenberg, a charming Medieval town boasting fairytale half-timbered houses, the fame Crooked House, and the Royal Inn, which has been serving meals since the 17th century. Take in the breathtakingly beautiful scenery along the meandering Main River as you relax onboard in the afternoon. (BB, L, D)

Day 9: Würzburg

Featured Excursion: Würzburg Residenz visit

Awaken in Würzburg, where you will visit the extraordinary Würzburg Residenz, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most opulent extant Baroque palaces. The 300-room palace took nearly 60 years to complete and contains the world’s largest ceiling fresco, created by Venetian painter Giovanni Battista Tiepolo, as well as what is often described as the most beautiful staircase in the world. In the evening, your ship resumes its journey down the Main toward Bamberg. (BB, L, D)

Day 10: Bamberg

Featured Excursion: Bamberg city tour

Explore the UNESCO World Heritage city of Bamberg with your guide. See the unique Town Hall, the Imperial Cathedral, and the fishermen’s village known as “Little Venice.” Shuttle service will be provided between the city and the ship so that you can enjoy leisure time in the afternoon. Day 11: Depart Nuremberg (Disembarkation)

Disembark the ship and transfer to the Nuremberg airport for your flight home, or extend your stay in Prague, the “City of Spires.” (CB/BB)
