Program Date: June 4, 2013 - June 9, 2013

The Armada of Rouen provides a unique opportunity to discover the most beautiful and the largest sailboats, the most modern warships and other exceptional boats from around the world.

Detailed Itinerary:

DAY 1: PARIS (Embarkation)

We meet in Paris at the Quai de Grenelle prior to embarkation. Cabins will be available from 6:00pm. We are introduced to the crew over a welcome drink in the lounge/bar. After dinner in the on-board restaurant, we have a traditional evening of entertainment with a Titi Parisen or “Parisian Street Urchin” theme. The ship sets sail during the night.

DAY 2: LES ANDELYS - ROUEN - ARMADA*

We have buffet breakfast on board as we spend the morning cruising towards les Andelys. During our cruise, we have a magnificent view of the Roche Guyon. We arrive in les Andelys around 1.30 pm and set off on our optional excursion to the chateau at Martainville, the sumptuous second home of a 15th century banker. Today the chateau houses the Museum of Norman Art and Traditions and has been listed as a Historic Monument since 1951. Here we find a unique collection of furniture and other artefacts from Upper Normandy which traces the evolution of styles from the 15th to the 19th century. There are displays relating to the history of textiles and costumes in Normandy, Norman tin and pewter ware, Rouen china and painted boxes, which are so authentically presented that we feel almost transported back to the past as if by time machine. Truly an exceptional journey back through time. We head by coach to Elbeuf where we return on board around 6.30pm. Dinner on board followed by evening of entertainment as we cruise or free time in Rouen to admire the wonderful sailboats participating in the Armada, while strolling along the quayside and enjoying the fireworks. During the night, heading towards Honfleur.

*The Armada of Rouen takes place from 06th to 16th june 2013 (subject to possible amendment)

DAY 3: HONFLEUR - CAUDEBEC-EN-CAUX

We have buffet breakfast on board. We spend the whole morning on an optional guided walking tour of Honfleur, the most picturesque of fishing ports, located at the mouth of the Seine where it flows into the English Channel. After lunch on board, we have an optional excursion by coach to the Côte d’Albâtre (Alabaster Coast), the natural heritage site of the Pays de Caux (Caux country) and the Seine Estuary, including Etretat, Yport, Fécamp, which are all absolutely wonderful tourist spots that you will see in a completely different light after this cruise.

Or join a full-day optional excursion (lunch included) to the Landing Beaches (available for advance bookings only and for a minimum of 30 people). One of the great turning points of the 20th century happened in France during the D-Day Landings of the Allied Forces in Normandy. Our tour takes us to all the main sites of the D-Day Landings in June 1944: the Pointe du Hoc, Omaha Beach, Coleville sur Mer etc. We then visit Arromanches 360° to watch a film in a circular theatre of nine screens before returning to Honfleur via Gold Beach, Juno Beach and Sword Beach . The coach arrives back in Honfleur in the early evening. We return on board for dinner and moor for the night.
