Detailed Itinerary:Strasbourg to Vienna (SVN)

Day 1: Strasbourg (Embarkation Day)

We'll board between 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., and after you've comfortably settled in your cabin, we'll introduce our crew during our welcome cocktail party. We'll depart around 8:00 p.m., heading towards Mainz. You'll enjoy dinner on board.

Day 2: Mainz - Frankfurt

You'll have breakfast on board, and we'll arrive in Mainz around 8:00 a.m. This city, the birthplace of Gutenberg, lies at the confluence of the Rhine and the Main Rivers. It is a perfect blend of past and present with its thousand-year-old cathedral. We'll take a guided tour before we depart around 11:00 a.m., heading for Frankfurt. We'll have lunch on board. We'll spend the afternoon on an optional sightseeing tour of the city, a major hub of business. You'll discover the unusual combination of ancient and modern architecture that this city has to offer. You'll enjoy dinner on board. We'll continue cruising through the night.

Day 3: Miltenberg - Wertheim

We'll stop off in Miltenberg early in the morning. You'll have time to visit this peaceful town, with its market place lined with half-timbered houses, its fine main street, the Reisen hotel and old Town Hall. We'll have lunch on board before we continue on to Wertheim, arriving late in the afternoon. You'll have some free time on your own to discover the town before coming back on board for dinner. We'll remain in port overnight.

Day 4: Wertheim - Wurtzburg - Gerlachshausen

headed for Karlstadt. We'll have lunch on board. When we arrive, we'll depart by coach for an optional visit to Würzburg on the right bank of the Main. It is famous for its baroque palace, the former residence of the bishop princes. While we are visiting, the boat will continue on to Würzburg where we'll return on board late in the afternoon. The boat then departs for Gerlachshausen. We'll have dinner on board, followed by an evening of entertainment. We'll remain in port overnight.

Day 5: Gerlachshausen - Rothenburg - Bamberg

We'll depart early in the morning, cruising along the Main to reach Volkach. You'll enjoy breakfast on board before leaving on an optional guided tour to Rothenburg, a magnificent walled town set up high on the hills over the river, with its narrow streets lined with picturesque half-timbered houses and craftsman's workshops. It is indeed one of the most beautiful towns on the Romantic Road. While we are visiting, the boat continues on to Schweinfurt, where we will board before making our way to Bamberg. We'll enjoy dinner on board, and we'll remain in port overnight.

Day 6: Bamberg - Nurnberg - Muhlhausen

You'll have breakfast while we cruise on the Rhine-Main-Danube canal, which was opened on September 25, 1992. You'll have lunch on board before arriving in Nuremberg around 2:00 p.m. You can join us for an optional guided visit of the city which transports its visitors back to medieval times. The old town and its market place are surrounded with Gothic buildings, half-timbered houses and elegant burgher houses. A true imperial setting! We'll return to the ship during the afternoon and sail on to reach Muhlhausen in the evening. We'll have dinner on board, followed by entertainment provided by our crew. We'll remain in port overnight.

Day 7: Muhlhausen-Regensburg

We'll spend the morning cruising, and you'll enjoy lunch on board before we arrive in Kelheim. There you can join us on an optional excursion to Regensburg, which is the fourth largest city in Bavaria and a major industrial hub. It is home to major firms such as BMW, Siemens and Triumph. The historic center of the city is home to over 2 centuries of history. While we visit, the boat cruises on to join us in Regensburg. You'll then enjoy the gala dinner and an evening on board. We'll continue cruising through the night.

Day 8: Regensburg - Passau

We'll have breakfast on board this morning before arriving in Passau around 8:00 a.m. You can enjoy some free time on your own, or you can join us for a discovery tour with our onboard host/hostess. This university town, with its baroque architecture and romantic streets, will leave a lasting impression. At the end of our morning tour, we'll return on board for lunch. The boat will then depart towards Vienna and we'll spend the afternoon cruising. After dinner on board, we'll sail along the Strudengau valley, the wildest and most beautiful part of the Danube. We'll continue sailing through the night.

Day 9: Passau - Vienna (Disembarkation Day)

Breakfast while cruising to arrive in Vienna around 9.00am before disembarking. End of our journey.

Reverse direction: Vienna to Strasbourg (VNS)

Day 1: Vienna (Embarkation Day)

We'll begin boarding at 4:00 p.m. in Vienna and you'll have time to get settled in to your cabin. Then we'll introduce our crew over a welcome cocktail. You'll enjoy dinner on board this evening.

Day 2: Vienna - Passau

We'll have all meals on board as we spend the day navigating one of the prettiest stretches of the Danube; the Strudengau, famous in times gone by for its whirlpools, the Nibelungengau and all its legends. We'll enjoy an afternoon of dancing on board, and we'll arrive at the end of the afternoon in Passau. Here you can enjoy some free time, or you can join us for a discovery tour of the town with our onboard host/hostess. A university town with a rich musical and theatrical heritage, Passau's beautiful baroque buildings and romantic narrow streets will linger long in your memory. We'll then return on board and continue our cruise to Regensburg.

Day 3: Passau - Regensburg - Nuremberg

We'll spend the morning cruising, and you'll have a buffet breakfast and lunch as we cruise. We'll arrive early in the afternoon in Regensburg. Regensburg is the fourth largest city in Bavaria, and an important industrial center (BMW, Siemens, Triumph). Its historic center has many well-preserved buildings and artifacts accumulated during some 2,000 years of existence. You can join us for an optional guided tour of Regensburg. During our visit, the boat heads on for Kelheim where we will return on board later. We'll have dinner followed by an evening of entertainment. Our cruise continues on to Nuremberg through the night.

Day 4: Nuremberg - Rothenburg - Bamberg

We'll arrive early in Nuremberg, and you'll have breakfast on board. Afterwards, you can join us for an optional guided visit of the town. Nuremberg is a town that seems to come straight out of the Middle Ages. Known as the “Treasure Chest of the German Empire”, the old town is clustered around the old market square. There you'll find Gothic buildings, half-timbered houses and townhouses. During our visit, the boat heads on for Erlangen where we will return on board for lunch. We'll spend the afternoon cruising, and you'll enjoy entertainment on board. We'll have dinner on board, followed by an evening of entertainment. We'll remain in port overnight in Bamberg.

Day 5: Bamberg - Rothenburg - Wurzburg

Our boat departs early in the morning, and you'll enjoy both a buffet breakfast and lunch on board as we spend the morning cruising towards Schweinfurt. We'll arrive early in the afternoon in Schweinfurt, the starting point for an optional excursion to Rothenburg. A magnificent town located on a hill, Rothenburg is known for its well-preserved medieval old town. It has with many fine half-timbered houses and craft shops hidden away behind its walls along attractive, narrow streets. Rothenburg is an absolute “must-see” along the Romantic Road. We'll return on board in Gerlachshausen for dinner, and our cruise continues to Würzburg, where we'll arrive during the night.

Day 6: Wurzburg - Wertheim

We'll enjoy a buffet breakfast on board this morning before an optional visit of Würzburg (residence of the bishop princes). Built on the right bank of the Main, Würzburg is a wonderful stop on the Romantic Road. It has a truly idyllic setting among vineyards located under the shadows of its imposing citadel - a lasting symbol of the power of the bishop princes. During this time, the boat will sail to Karlstadt where we will join it following our visit. We'll then return on board for lunch and continue our cruise to Wertheim. We'll have dinner and stay in port for the night.

Day 7: Wertheim - Miltenberg - Aschaffenburg

You'll enjoy a buffet breakfast on board this morning and we'll arrive at daybreak in Miltenberg. We'll take a discovery tour of the town with our onboard host/hostess, visiting the market square surrounded by half-timbered houses, as well as the Main Street and the Old Town Hall. Such attractions are why Miltenberg deserves its nickname, the “Pearl of the Main”. We'll then return on board for lunch and continue our cruise to Aschaffenburg. We'll have dinner and stay in port for the night.

Day 8: Aschaffenburg - Frankfurt - Mainz

You'll enjoy a buffet breakfast on board this morning and we'll depart for Frankfurt. After we arrive, you can join us for an optional visit of the city. A bustling business city and major commercial center, Frankfurt's eclectic mix of ancient and modern astonishes and delights visitors. We'll then return on board and continue our cruise to Mainz. Situated at the confluence of the Rhine and the Main, with its 1,000-year-old cathedral towering over the town, Mainz is the town of Gutenberg and has strong links with both the past and the present day. Late in the afternoon, we'll arrive in Mainz and take a discovery tour of the town with our on-board host/hostess. You'll enjoy the gala dinner and evening on board as we continue to cruise through the night, heading for Strasbourg.

Day 9: Mainz- Strasbourg (Disembarkation Day)

You'll enjoy a breakfast buffet on board as we spend the morning cruising. You'll have onboard entertainment as our trip continues to Strasbourg. On the way, we'll pass through the two largest locks on the Rhine, the Iffezheim and Gambsheim. We'll arrive in Strasbourg around 2:00 p.m. Disembarkation and end of our services.
