Detailed Itinerary:

DAY 1: LYON (Embarkation Day)

Boarding at 6:00 p.m. in Lyon, at the Quai Claude Bernard. Crew presentation and welcome drink. Presentation of our hiking program. Dinner followed by an evening of entertainment on board.


Full board on board. Morning spent cruising to Chavanay. Cruise through the magical Rhône Valley, and pass through Givors, Vienne and Condrieu, at the foot of the Côte-Rôtie vineyards. Arriving in Chavanay at 2:00 p.m. Hikers' Program: Hiking in the Pilat Mountain Range. You'll discover amazing vistas from the granite ledge set high above the Rhône River and facing the Alps as we hike through this beautiful mountain range. (Duration 2 hours 45 minutes, 7 km (4.4 miles), with around 200 m (656 feet) of elevation gain) Or Non-Hikers' Program: Visit of Chavanay, a medieval market town with narrow streets from the Middle Ages. Free evening. Overnight.


Full board on board. Morning spent cruising. We'll pass through the Bollène lock, which raises and lowers boats 23 meters (75 feet) for navigating the Rhône River, a major civil engineering project of the 1950s. Arriving in Avignon around 3:00 p.m. Ancient Hellenistic and Roman city, it became the twelfth century the city of the Popes. Cultural jewel of Provence, the city is as much for its heritage for its rich artistic life. Guided walking visit of the city of the Pope. Provençal folk entertainment. Overnight.


Full board on board. Cruise to Arles and arriving around 8:00 a.m. Hikers' Program: Hiking in the Alpilles and Les Baux-de-Provence. The Alpilles are a small chain of limestone mountains, probably the most famous and the most visited in Provence. (Duration 2 to 2½ hours, distance of 5 km (3 miles), with about 150 m (492 feet) of elevation gain). Or Non-hikers' Program: Visit of Les Baux-de-Provence. The village of Les Baux-de-Provence has a spectacular position in the heart of the Alpilles at an altitude of 245 m (804 feet), the village is classified as “one of the most beautiful villages in France.” The afternoon, excursion by coach through the Camargue, where we'll discover the villages of Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer and typical landscapes with wild horses, pink flamingos, rice paddy fields and salt marshes. Cruise to Viviers. Gala evening.


Full board on board. Arriving in Viviers around 8:00 a.m. Hikers' Program: Hiking in the Ardèche Gorges nature reserve. Lovers of the great outdoors will surely fall under the spell of the Ardèche Gorges, with their unique and wondrous scenery, combined with amazing, breathtaking views. (Duration 2 hours, 6 km (3.75 miles), with around 250 m (656 feet) of elevation gain) Or Non-hikers' Program: Visit to the Pont d'Arc Cavern, a replica of Chauvet Cave, which will plunge you at the heart of the prehistoric rock art. Guided walking tour of Viviers, medieval city classified protected area of the Rhône-Alpes region, the former residence of the bishops. Cruise to Vienne. Evening of entertainment.

DAY 6: VIENNE - LYON (Disembarkation Day)

Buffet breakfast as we cruise. Arriving in Vienne around 9:00 a.m. Guided walking tour of the town. It was the capital of the “Viennoise” Roman province and a religious capital until the 15th century. Cruise to Lyon, having, lunch on board. Arriving in Lyon around 3:00 p.m. End of our services.

Hiking : difficultys, level 2

The hikes that are proposed during this cruise are little half-day strolls (2 to 3 h walking), implying few changes in altitude (around 150 to 300 m). Along the hike, you get the chance to see and discover some natural or cultural areas which are on your cruise’s programme. The durations stipulated in our programmes are given as a rough guide and do not take the breaks into consideration. No athlete’s training is necessary for these hikes, but you should be in good shape and rested to fully enjoy this cruise.

Your equipment

It is essential to bring a backpack (max 30L) in which you can put what is necessary for a hike: sweater, raincoat, picnic, flask of water and solar protection.
It is important, for your comfort and pleasure during the hike, to choose a good backpack. You should take a good-sized and sturdy bag with padded braces and a strong and waterproof fabric. There will be no porterage.

First of all, good shoes should not hurt you and should be comfortable. You should try your shoes and use them a little before leaving, it is important that you feel comfortable wearing them.
Without taking into consideration the difficulty of the hike, the sole should always be of a good quality that is to say that they should be well sewed and not slippery on a wet or damaged ground. You should prefer ankle boots with softened soles in order to avoid malleolus, back- and joints traumatisms.

The equipment for a hike should necessarily include
• More or less warm underclothes depending on the planned hike
• Light quick-drying trousers
• Warm sweater or fleece jacket
• Cape for the rain or raincoat
• Hat or cap
• Thin gloves and a bonnet for the beginning and the end of the season

Do not forget to bring:
• Sunglasses
• Sunscreen cream
• Small personal first-aid kit (refer to following paragraph)
• Flask
• Toilet paper
• Folding knife
• Telescopic sticks for those who are used to use them (recommend for the Douro and Croatia cruise)

Your guide will have a first-aid kit for each hike.
It is yet compulsory to bring a personal first-aid kit, different in according with the destination, which will at least include:
• Plastic strip
• “Twinfaces”
• Analgesic
• If necessary, mosquito lotion
• Collyrium
• Intestinal antiseptic…
… and your personal medicines if you undergo a treatment.


  • A valid passport is required for travel. Passports must be valid at least 6 months after the last day of travel.
  • Please check visa requirements with your local consulate(s); responsibility for obtaining visas rests with the traveler.
  • For reasons of navigation and passenger safety, the cruise operator and the Captain of the ship reserve the right to modify the itinerary of the cruise .
