"Impressions as time flows by" - 150th birthday of Claude Debussy

Rhine River Cruise from Koblenz (Germany) to Amsterdam (The Netherlands)

October 27, 2012 - November 3, 2012
7 nights/8 days on board the River Cloud II

The end of the 19th century marked the beginning of a new zeitgeist, which in retrospect signalled the start of the modern age. Painters depicted their impressions of the world and composers tried to produce new kinds of music.

To mark the 150th birthday of Claude Debussy and the 75th anniversary of the death of Maurice Ravel, this cruise will be devoted to the era of impressionism. The young pianist Yannael Quenel, who has already won may awards, will be giving two concerts for guests of the River Cloud II, which will be devoted to the two composers.

Patricia Witzigmann will be imparting intereting facts on Debussy, Ravel and their times in an entertaining way. And all the excursions will be capturing the attitudes to life at that time, with a musical spring in their step or inspired by the theme of our cruise - whether at an exclusive reception by Princess Heide von Hohenzollern or on a visit to a famous cafe in Amsterdam, which would have been sure to please the "dandy" Ravel.

Et Vogue L'Opera
Eastern Mediterannean Cruise from Suez (Egypt) to Venice (Italy)

May 10, 2012 - May 21, 2012
11 nights/12 days on board l'Austral

"An invitation to journey from the East to the West, our "Vogue L'Opera" 2012 cruise begins with extended extracts from Guiseppe Verdi's Aida, commissioned by Ismail Pacha.

For this 7th edition, Diane Polya-Zeitline, Vichy Opera's artistic director is paying us the honor of being our Patron.

Aboard we have the vocal and speech specialist Elizabeth Fresnel who will teach you all there is to know about the voice and secrets of memory. The year 2012 is also an opportunity for us to celebrate the centenary of the death of one of France's great composers, Jules Massenet. In his company, we invite you to discover his great heroines, Thais, Herodiade, Cleopatra, Sappho and Charlotte from Werther interpereted by BRigitte Hool and Marie Kalinine.

No opera cruise would be complete without an Orientalism programme linked into this itinerary and artistic movement and illustrated by Mozart's The Abduction from the Seraglio, Cosi Fan Tutte, Rossini's The Italian in Algiers, and not forgetting If I Were King, Madame Butterfly or Turandot in the company of Philippe Do and Yvan Rebeyrol.

As dance is so closely associated with the world of opera, this year we are delighted to welcome the dancer and choreographer Eugenie Andrin for a highly original evening where the beauty of the voice and the grace of dance become one.

Finally as you drift into Venice at the end of the cruise, we will also be offering you a rare meeting with the counter-tenor Fabrice Di Falco for an evening of castrato singing." - Jean-Francois Vinciguerra - Artistic Director - Et Vogue l'Opera
