Itinerary Amsterdam - Basel

Day 1
You embark on the Amadeus Princess in the late afternoon. Later our Tour Manager will welcome you with a cocktail before the official welcome dinner and welcome concert. The ship remains moored overnight in Amsterdam.

Day 2
In the morning there is an optional city tour incl. concert, of Amsterdam that highlights its vivid history. The Amadeus Princess sails from Amsterdam at midday and cruises south along the Amsterdam Rijnkanaal, through the flat polder landscape of Southern Holland, reaching the Rhine and continuing past Nijmegen into Germany. Enjoy a concert on board.

Day 3
After breakfast a lectorate is hold about the music program on board. In the early afternoon you reach Bonn, the former capital of Germany, where there is an optional city tour. The city of Bonn is famous for its Beethoven heritage, and has also earned the nickname "City of Languages." Absorb Bonn and its numerous sights – places, churches, and scenery – by bus or just walking. You will be impressed by the variety of the region. Enjoy the outstanding landscape of this Rhine city and the “Siebengebirge” hills, and absorb its UN/international atmosphere. Evening concert in Bonn.

Day 4
The Amadeus Princess sails for Ruedesheim, along what is probably the most famous and scenic stretch of the Rhine Valley. You pass hilltop castles, terraced vineyards and attractive riverside villages for 65 delightful kilometres. We dock in Ruedesheim noon. This charming old wine town is popular with tourists, and has a long narrow street, the Drosselgasse, lined on both sides with wine taverns. There is an optional walking tour of the town with a visit to Siegfried’s Music Museum, where you can see all kinds of mechanical music instruments from barrel organs and music boxes to horn gramophones. The Amadeus Princess sails from Ruedesheim in the afternoon and moors in Mainz in the afternoon.

Day 5
Before departing Mainz in the afternoon there is an optional sightseeing tour incl. concert to enable you to appreciate Gutenberg’s city. Mainz's Old Town, or inner city, is its pride and joy. Broad squares, lovingly-restored half-timbered houses, and magnificent Baroque churches give the Old Town its charming character. In the evening, during your dinner, we cruise into Mannheim’s river port. Concert on board.

Day 6
After breakfast, we take a coach to Heidelberg, home of Germany’s oldest university founded in 1386. Our guided tour incl. concert features imposing Heidelberg Castle, a red sandstone ruin overlooking the River Neckar and continues with a walking tour through the Old Town and market place. On this evening of your journey, the captain will be delighted to welcome you to the Captain’s Galadinner inclusive a wounderful concert on board.

Day 7
After arriving Strasbourg in the early morning, we say good-bye to our French passengers, who disembark after breakfast. For the others buses will be waiting, offering an optional city sightseeing tour incl. concert. With its monumental cathedral featuring carvings as delicate as any piece of lacework, Strasbourg is one of Europe’s most attractive cities. Thanks to the richness and sheer density of its heritage sites, the entire city centre has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Strasbourg is definitely well worth a visit, to discover its history, its cuisine and its unique atmosphere. We dine for the last time on MS Amadeus Princess this evening with a farewell concert, as she sails on up the Rhine to Switzerland.
